Julia's First Birthday : A Smashing Good Time
June 20, 2015
Rain in the forecast? Not a problem for this lucky little one's first birthday. With a tent, bounce house, and plenty of distractions in the form of great friends and family, a smash cake, a balloon artist/face painter and plenty of delicious foods, the rain came and went, hardly noticed by anyone. The backyard affair was a smashing (literally) success and everyone went home with either a balloon animal or some face paint, and also full bellies and plenty of wonderful memories.
The last time I saw Monika and her husband, Glen, was just over a little year ago when I shot the baby shower her family and friends threw for them. It was an honor that Monika asked me to photograph Julia's first birthday party, especially when she took me aside at the party and told me it was from the shower photos that she realized how important it was to her to have these precious moments captured.
It's amazing what can happen in a year.
Cousins, grandparents, uncles, aunts, and dear friends came from all over to celebrate.
oh hello...what's this?
Julia likes it! Cake smash success.
Don't worry, no one noticed that you got any cake on your face. (Okay, everyone noticed and also took lots of photos, but that's okay because it was super cute.)
A few of the moments captured.
Thanks for coming, everyone!
